SusieCakes, an "All-American Home-Stye Bake Shop," is now open in Manhattan Beach. Check out their signature frosting-filled cupcakes (red velvet and mocha are personal favorites)!

They've got other stuff worth trying: lemon bars, cookies and the like; but skip the whoopie pie-flavorless sugary filling enveloped in too-soft cookies.

My recommendation: save the calories for the cakes.
